Would You Play With Me?
A Story About Friendship
Jerry the mouse was looking for someone to play with. He saw Ben the monkey. "Would you play
with me Ben?" Jerry asked. "I'm sorry Jerry", Ben said, "but I'm busy and I can't play with
you." Jerry was sad Ben couldn't play with him, but off he went. He then saw Bill the dog.
"Would you play with me me Bill?" Jerry asked. "I'm sorry Jerry", bill said, "I can't play
with you, I'm too busy." Jerry was sad. Would anybody play with him? Jerry walked for a little
while until he saw Mickey the raccoon. "Would you play with me?" He asked. "I'm sorry I can't
play with you, I'm busy." Jerry was really sad nobody could play with him. Was something wrong
with him, he wondered? Or was it because he was too small? Then he met Susan the duck. "Would
you play with me Susan?" "Yes", said Susan. "I'll play with you." Jerry was happy because
maybe it wasn't because he was too small. And they played. The end.

Half Term Happenings!
On Half Term, we enjoyed getting sweets. We enjoyed swimming and chocolate bars and ice cream.
We had fun making half term houses to have rest hour in. We had fun playing. We ate lunch at
the river. We had fun roller blading with Miss Kelly. Daniel used A.J.'s roller blades. We
enjoyed having computers and playing games on the computer with Mr. Ronald. Daniel had fun
playing by himself. We enjoyed going down to the river and making a choo-choo train with tubes
in the small pool. Michael had the idea of making a choo-choo train for us. I liked India (the
dog) when he was chasing Tom and me (Lemekani). In computers some people got to load games
and play them if the computer was able to hold it. Silver and Gold Seal went on the flying fox,
which Mr. Bierworth put up. Red and Blue Seal got to go down the water slide. Michael and A.J.
did a flip and got 10 points from Mr. Bierworth. Miss Martin and Mrs. Young made wiener wraps
for us. Mr. Young prayed for the food every time in the morning and at night.

Laziness
Laziness is lavender,
It tastes like chocolate and
marshmallows and smells like beautiful roses.
Laziness looks like a person sleeping.
It sounds like a lullaby, and feels like
a hot bubble bath that I don't want
to leave!

A Message from the Headmaster
Dear Sakeji Families and Friends,
In the last few days, I've been looking at the well-known words of Psalm 37:4-6.
Through being here at Sakeji over these past three years, I well remember my first
understanding of these words as a child. "Trust in the Lord, and do good; dwell in
the land and befriend faithfulness (or feed on faithfulness). Delight yourself in the
Lord, and He will give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the Lord;
trust in Him, and He will act." ESV Haven't we all, in our youth, thought, "Oh, what
a wonderful promise! All I have to do is to delight in the Lord, and He'll give me
everything I want." But, looking, perhaps a little more carefully, I'm persuaded
that what the Lord gives in response to our wholehearted trust in Him, our 'feeding' on
His faithfulness (until a resemblance to our Father is seen in us), our true delight
in Him (His Word, His will and His ways) are a full committal of our way to Him, - is
not merely the gratifying of our wants. His pleasure is to 'give us the desires of our
hearts'. That is, He gives us the desires our hearts should have!
If we then ponder that truth, we discover that if our desires are so completely
'at one' with the Lord's, that His desires are outs, - then He can trust us with the
cheque book, and whisper to our soul, "Whatever you ask In My Name, this I
will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you ask anything In
My Name, I will do it." John 14: 13, 14 ESV
A check-list seems to emerge:
- Is mine a whole-hearted trust in the Lord?
- How much do I feed on His faithfulness? Is it producing likeness to him?
- Do I really delight in the Lord? Are His Words, Will and Ways my delight?
Mr. Arthur Goodman was a missionary of many years ago. Leaving his homeland for
the first time, bound for a land and a people he did not know, he boarded the ship
that would take him half way around the world. As he positioned himself by the rail
of the ship and looked out upon those he would now be leaving for an indefinite
length of time, a sudden wave of anxiety swept over him. As the full impact hit him,
of what was involved in the commitment he had made of his life and future to God,
he quickly sought the refuge of his stateroom, where he fell on his face and cried
out to the Lord in his weakness. Rising to sit on his bunk moments later, he opened
his well-worn KJV Bible. Resorting to the Psalms, he read until his eyes fell on
something he had never noticed before -- though he loved the Scriptures. In the
23rd verse of Psalm 37, he saw it written, "The steps of A. Goodman are ordered
by the Lord, and he delighteth in his way." Sadness gave way to joy, turmoil turned
to peace, and doubt fled before the assurance of God that he was in the center
of His will. Yes, "The steps of a (any) man are established by the Lord, when
he delights in His way." Psalm 37:23 ESV Have you found delight in
Him, a refuge for your soul?
